Sat 2nd XI Versus Wellesbourne 4/25/2009
The 2's warmed up for the start of next weekend's League campaign with a 28 run win over Wellesbourne. Batting first in their 40 over encounter, the Town made 153-5 thanks to a half century from skipper Rob Hearth who made 52 and 35 from colt Pat Howard. Old timer, Ali Peebles chipped in with an unbeaten 18 and Richard Strange 13. Roothwell took 2-20 for the visitors and then made 36 in the Wellesbourne innings. Wheeler added 28, whilst Mole and Prasat made 16 a piece. It was the Town youngsters who shone with the ball as Howard completed his fine game to snap up 3-11 off 5 overs and Phil Edmonds took 2-12 off 6 overs. Peebles showed he still had the guile with the ball as he claimed 3-21 and Andy Kennell 1-17 as Wellesbourne ended the day on 125-9.
