Two personal bests in Senior Cricket helped the Town 2's to a 12 run win over visitors, Leicestershire based, Willoughby Waterleys in a true friendly fixture. 17 year old starlet, Guy Pearson, hit a stunning 94 bludgeoning the ball to the boundary and over it throughout his impressive innings whilst 15 year old, Tom Pope, hit an unbeaten 31 at number 8, with 2 sixes and four 4's, as he and Roger Kelsey 20 helped the side to 191-8 in their 40 over clash after 15 year old, James Alty had notched 16. Ashraf took a frugal 3-8 from his 8 overs. In reply, Willoughby kept up with the run rate as Jay Smith hit 35, Yanushan and Neheamiah 28 a piece and Jones 27 but their innings fell away against spinners, veteran Andy Smith who took 2-25 off his 8 overs and the youthful Phil Edmonds, with 2-43, after Roger Kelsey had earlier taken 2-34, Prannay 1-15 and colt, Jayesh Naik 1-15 but their run chase was ended by a fine run out by Sean Burke as the visitors ended the day on 179-9 in a tense finish. |
