The Town 1s had a winless weekend with a 6 wicket defeat in their opening game of the Warwickshire Sunday League season at Harborne. Kenilworth won toss and chose to bat on a typical flat Old Church Avenue wicket the only partnership of significance was a second wicket stand of 45 from Dave Edmunds with 20 and Gregg Peebles who top scored with 37 from 52 deliveries. Once these were out only Mitch Lowe with a brutal 35 off 28 balls reached double figures as the rest of the lower order collapsed against Jonathon Cockcroft who took 4-14 and captain Darren Culbard 3-34 as Kenilworth were all out for 127 with more than 14 overs remaning of their allocation. Rajiv Sen 2-35 and Kiran Iyer 1-33 were the other Harborne wicket takers. In reply, Harborne cruised to victory by 6 wickets with more more than 20 overs to spare. This was largely due to an unbeaten 80 from opener Tom Arnold who made 80 off 63 deliveries 10 x 4s and 4 x 6s including a straight 6 to seal victory. Tom Kane 1-33 ,Charlie Leonard 1-12 Geoff Edmunds 1-15 and debutant Matt Hone 1-44.
