Sat 3rd XI Versus Weoley Hill 5/30/2009
The Town's last pair clung on for 5 overs to prevent Weoley Hill from winning the match after they had posted 224-7 with J. Smith hitting 50, Abbotts 41 and M. Smith 31 whilst the Town wicket takers were Colin Goodall 3-25, Phil Edmonds 2-34 and Ed Smith 1-55. Replying the Town made 186-9 after Ed Smith had made an impressive 58, skipper Luke Walton 37, Chris Walsgrove 15 and Goodall 14. However, it was left to Matt Bolshaw at 10 with 9 not out to guide to Town to safety, after Brooks had taken 4-67 from an unchanged 25 overs and Bencons 4-32 from his 14 overs. An interesting and a most unusual occurrence and finale to the match as both the last pair of Matt Bolshaw and Phil Edmonds batted with runners on the field as both had been injured earlier during the game. So, a well done to those two young lads for going out to bat and successfully save the game for the 3's. Team players!
