Man of the Match, 15 year old, James Alty starred with the bat and the ball in the Town 3rd's 68 run over King's Heath. He made his highest score in Senior cricket with a mature 49 opening the batting as the side reached 170-9. Ed Smith from the number 9 berth made a swashbuckling unbeaten 21 whilst Pranay Turlapati made 19 and Roger Kelsey 11. Greaves took an impressive 6-59 for the visitors who then struggled in reply, as they slumped to 7-3 after Smith teamed up with namesake, Andy, to send the top three back to the hutch - a position that they never recovered from. Wickets fell regularly between the rainstorms and their innings ended on 102 with 9 overs to spare. Only Masood with 35 and Lockyer with 11 reached double figures. Ed Smith ended the day on 2-25 from 11 overs, Andy Smith 2-15 off 9, whilst fellow spinner, colt Phil Edmonds, snapped up 2-21 and Gareth Knights 1-16. Debutant, Matt Hone, took 1-9 but it was left to Alty to finish off the King's Heath tail with a fine 2-6 to round off a great day for him and the side. Pranay clung onto two catches behind the sticks. |
