Sat 2nd XI Versus Solihull Blossomfield 5/30/2009
A superior fielding display from Solihull Blossomfield strangled any chance of the Town 2's seeking a win as the match petered out into a draw. Batting first, the hosts amassed 219 in 49.5 overs as paceman Jonny Armstrong took 4-38 for the Town and left arm spinner, Andy Kennell weighed in with 4-41 whilst the evergreen Ali Peebles snapped up 1-20. Bannister top scored for Blossomfield with 57, Lewis 42 and Reid 38. Tight bowling and whippet like fielding left the Town scratching about for runs after openers Mark Stranks 31 and Richard Strange 32 had put on 61 for the first wicket. Tom Kane chipped in with 17 not out and Peebles an unbeaten 10 but the side settled for a draw as they ended on 139-5. Edmond took 3-32 and Reid 1-23.
