The Towns 1's suffered their 2nd defeat of the season as they went down by 4 wickets at Bablake. Batting first, Kenilworth looked well placed at 127-3 but with the final 7 wickets yielding only 51 runs the final total was 173 all out from 49 overs. Gregg Peebles top scored with 38 followed by Mark Wisdish 34. The only other batsmen to pass 20, were Charlie Leonard 27 and Dave Edmunds 22 as the middle to lower order collapsed against some fine Bablake bowling. Former Kenilworth Wardens player, Richard Bush, led the attack with 4-30 to which Steve Swaffield 3-40 and Tom Cowley 3-36 were the other wicket takers. In reply, Bablake slumped to 47-2 and 106-6 but a fine 70 run partnership between Guy Eames who finished unbeaten 40 off 46 balls with 4 x 6 and skipper Richard Swaffield 29 off 33 2 x 6 took Bablake to victory with 7 overs remaining as they reached their target of 174. Peebles took 2-45, Geoff Edmunds 2-25, Mitch Lowe 1-45 and Leonard 1-53. With some surprising results else where Kenilworth now lie in 6th plcae in the WACL Premier Division but only 15 points separate 2nd to 10th.
