In the last pre-league friendly before the Warwickshire Sunday League starts this coming weekend the Town side had a comfortable 92 run win against the youthful Wardens side in this good spirited friendly fixture. Kenilworth posted a solid 233-5 in their 45 overs thanks to a good 59 from opener Mark Wisdish and a 104 run 5th wicket partnership between Gregg Peebles and Mitch Lowe. Peebles hit 42 including 3 boundaries and a six whilst Lowe blasted a quick fire unbeaten 64 that delighted the spectators as he hit 5 boundaries and five mega sixes in his knock in their 12 over partnership. In reply, two sharp run outs proved costly as Bush was run out at the non strikers end for 0 and then Lowe dispatched Stenning for 12 from the boundary with a direct hit for 12. Only Andy Whitehall showed any resistance with a fine 80 at number 4 as the wickets were shared around by the Town bowling. Spinners Andy Smith and James Nason took a brace apiece. Smith 2-24 and Nason 2-20. Gareth Knights took 2-21, whilst Ali Peebles 1-33 and occasional bowler Mark Deeley claimed 1-21. Joe Courts snaffled 2 sharp stumpings as the Wardens succumbed to 141 all out. |
